Prison & Addiction Conference 2018

PAC is an annual event organized by Malaysian Care for the purpose of equipping, networking, and sharing resources and support, among volunteers and co-workers who are currently serving or show interest in the field of prison and addiction ministries.

Pastor Pax is currently pastoring Wellspring Baptist Church in Petaling Jaya. He retired from Malaysian Care in 2014 after 30 years of service, in the Overseas Department, Communications, Prison, Drugs & AIDS work. A lecturer in bible colleges and organisations on Integral Mission, Social Justice, Justice and Poverty, Counselling, Addictions.

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor and Trainer. ( USA & UK )
  • Vice-President of International Substance Abuse & Addictions Coalition ( ISAAC ), with Christian members from over 80 countries.
  • Theological Studies in Trinity Theological College, Singapore 1977-1981.
  • Social Sciences, Oxford Brookes University, UK 1990-1991.
  • Pastor of Lutheran Churches 1981-1984; 1987-2010.

Dr Luke is a medical doctor who have recently completed Doctor in Psychiatry Degree at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and is currently attached to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan.

Former Director of Policy, Advocacy & Research, Malaysian Care

Kenneth was serving in Malaysian Care since 2003. He was serving as Director of Prison, Drugs & AIDS for numerous years and thereafter as Director of the Policy, Advocacy and Research. Kenneth has a Bachelor of Jurisprudence (majoring in Finance) and a Masters in Business Administration (specializing in Management of Organisational Development). Kenneth is also a qualified substance abuse counsellor, and is registered with the Federation of Alcohol and Drug Professionals, as well as with the American Association of Christian Counsellors (AACC). He is currently the Project Coordinator of Watoto Malaysia & Singapore.

Ranjit Singh Gurdev Singh

Tuan Ranjit started his service at the Prison Department in 1976, based in Pulau Jerejak. He was then promoted as an Inspector in 1980. He was based in Taiping in 1990 and subsequently transferred to Kajang Prison in the year 2004, as Deputy Superintendent. He was then promoted to Superintendent of Kajang Prison in 2012, and then as Assistance Commissioner of Prison and Deputy Director. He started the Sekolah Integriti Kajang (SIK) in the year 2008 and was the Commandant in SIK for many years. He retired as Director of Pusat Koreksional Kamunting, Taiping.

Alex & Bernice

Former Residents of Rumah Petros & Rumah Kepercayaan

Alex was released from Kajang Prison in the year 2009 after being whipped 20 times, and was admitted to Rumah Petros. He recovered, finished the program, became a trainee, left Rumah Petros after around 2 years and started his Chicken Rice Business. He met Bernice, who left Rumah Kepercayaan after completing the program and got married a few years after that. Bernice now serves in a female Rehabilitation Centre. Both Alex and Bernice never stop sharing about the grace of God in their lives.
