Volunteering with Malaysian Care will give you a fantastic opportunity to find out and do something about the social concern ministry in Malaysia. You'll be part of a movement for change, and make a big impact in lives of people, and, of course, have a great time!
If you are interested to embark on this extraordinary journey of volunteerism with Malaysian Care, but unsure of who to help, how to help, where to help and when to help, let us help you.
Here is an introduction to help you answer some of the common questions and subsequently direct you to the step of volunteerism, which you may wish to take.
What Can I Do as a Volunteer in Malaysian Care? There are lots of things you can do for Malaysian Care
You can teach or share your knowledge in Art, Basic Computer Skills, Bible Studies, Cookery & Baking, Dance, Flower Arrangement, Handicraft, Language (esp. English), Music, Pottery, School Work (primary & secondary), Sewing, Sports etc.
You can assist or be involved in Camps, Development Resources, Visitations, Library Management, Developing Teaching Aids & Equipment, Translations, Teaching, etc You can help in office work: Administrative / Clerical works, Accounts, Editorial, General Work, Receptionist Hospitality, etc.
You can advise or provide training in: Agriculture Science, Children Development, Communications & Public Relations, Community Healthcare, Conservation, Graphic Design, Human Development, Income Generation, Marketing & Small Business Development , Information Systems & Management, Business Development, Information Communication Technology Systems & Management, Infrastructure, Irrigation, Legal Work, Multimedia, Nutritional Science, Occupation Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychology in various areas, Sanitation & Water Supply, Special Education, Speech Therapy, Veterinary Services, Women Development, etc
Where would I be placed at as a Volunteer of Malaysian Care? Where you will be placed generally depends on the location of the services or departments you wish to be involved in. Some of our services run centres, residential homes and community places at various locations. Therefore, some traveling may be required. The following list indicates the location where you be wanting to serve.
Services For Prison, Drugs & AIDS Rumah Petros (Half-way house for men), Rumah Kepercayaan (Drug Rehabilitation for Women), and the Drop-In-Centre are all located in Old Klang Road Area. Penjara (Prisons) and Pusat Serenti (Government Drug Rehabilitation Centres) are located in Kajang, Sg. Buloh, Sg. Besi & Serendah
Services * People With Special Needs Day Training Centre at located at our Head Office at Bandar Tasik Selatan, Early Intervention Centre at "SPICES" and the Toy Library & Parents Resource Centre are located at Wangsa Maju, (Section 2)
Services For Rural & Urban Community Development Rural Community are mainly at Central Perak, South Perak & West Pahang and the Urban Community is within the Klang Valley
Who are the clients I would be serving? Malaysian Care has services that provide help to the poor and needy (referred to as our "Clients"). You can help the various groups of our Clients who are: Drug Dependents, Street People, Prisoners, Ex-Prisoners, People With HIV / AIDS, And Their Families, Young Children (age 0-6 years) With Learning Difficulties, Teens & Young Adults (age 13-25 years) With Learning Difficulties, Children From Rural and Urban Poor, People Who Suffer Emotional or Mental Problems, People in the Rural and Urban Poor Communities. Is there other areas I can serve as a volunteer in Malaysian Care? Besides helping our Clients directly through these services, you can be a volunteer and also help our Clients indirectly by supporting the work we do in the following departments: Finance & Administration, Communications (Church & Public Relations) and the Executive Directors' Office (HR, Training & Projects).
For how long do I need to serve as a Volunteer in Malaysian Care? Malaysian Care serves our clients at different times depending on the different services we have. By letting us know the type of volunteer you wish to be, we can help you work out a suitable time-table and determine the length of time you can serve as a Volunteer in Malaysian Care.
If you are able to commit your time regularly for 10 hours and above weekly, for more than 6 months or to a time that you are unable to commit to any time but you are available as a irregular Volunteer and we can call on you as and when the need of services from our volunteers arises.
